Premios de las Fundaciones The State of Kuwait Prize for the Control of Cancer, Cardiovascular Diseases and Diabetes in the Eastern Mediterranean Region
The Foundation was established in 2003 for the purpose of awarding a prize for making an outstanding contribution in prevention,
control and research in one or more of the following disease groups:
cancer, cardiovascular disease and diabetes. It was created on the initiative of and with funds provided by the State of Kuwait.
The State of Kuwait Prize consists of a bronze medal and a sum of money estimated to US$ 5000,
and may be given once a year to one or more persons, who have made an outstanding contribution in prevention,
control and research in one or more of the following disease groups: cancer, cardiovascular disease and diabetes.
Procedure for the proposal and selection of candidates
Any national health administration, national education administration, research center, educational institute,
or nongovernmental organization in a Member State of the World Health Organization within the Eastern Mediterranean Region may encourage candidates for the Prize.
Applications will be screened by the WHO Secretariat and the proposed nominations will be sent to the national health administration for endorsement. Then the Foundation Committee shall decide in a private meeting, by a majority of the members present, on the recommendation to be made to the Regional Committee, whose decisions shall be final. The Prize shall be presented during the following session of the Regional Committee for the Eastern Mediterranean by its Chairman to the recipient, or representative thereof, in case of absence.
