- Monitoring of genetic changes in measles virus wild-type strains to follow transmission chains in support of WHO measles virus surveillance
- Supporting WHO in maintaining high-level vaccine coverage and immunity in high risk groups and the general population
- Monitoring of IgG antibody waning in infants to provide information to WHO to assess current vaccination schedules
- In collaboration with WHO to monitor sensitivity of surveillance systems and to support WHO certification of elimination
- Development and implementation of new and optimization of existing laboratory techniques to further improve the performance of the WHO labnet
- Together with WHO, to identify training needs and to train staff of the WHO measles and rubella laboratory network to maintain and build capacity in measles laboratory diagnosis and surveillance
