Terms of Reference:
- When requested by WHO, provide technical support and training in order to strengthen laboratory system and diagnosis of TB in accordance with the End TB Strategy
- Under WHO’s leadership, provide support to the implementation of novel genotypic (i.e., next generation sequencing) and phenotypic drug susceptibility testing methods (conventional DST and Minimum Inhibitory Concentration methods) for Mycobacterium tuberculosis and other relevant pathogens in order to improve detection and surveillance.
- Under WHO’s leadership to monitor new developments and evaluate the tests capable of identifying TB infection, incipient TB and subclinical TB
- Under WHO’s leadership to conduct operational research and policy supportive activities to improve tuberculosis care and control
- At WHO’s request, to support prevalence and drug resistance surveys in line with WHO guidelines with special emphasis on the use of new diagnostic tools
