Terms of Reference:
  1. Work collaboratively with other WHO Collaborating Centers and other key institutions to contribute to the accomplishment of the objectives set in PAHO´s and WHO´s Programmes of Work 2014-2019, in particular in the area of the environment and public health;  
  2. To assist WHO in promoting awareness and developing methodologies in emerging issues in environmental health and in promoting integrated management systems and trans-disciplinary approaches for environmental and public health;  
  3. Participate in WHO initiatives for the development of guidelines, tools and reports related to the social and the environmental determinants of health and public health;  
  4. Contribute to national, regional and global improvement of public health and the environment by disseminating information, organizing public awareness campaigns, preparing training courses and materials and, making them available through PAHO/WHO’s, WHO’s and FIOCRUZ´s multiple channels of communication;  
  5. Provide technical assistance to PAHO/WHO and WHO in laboratorial analyses, diagnosis, and methodologies in specific areas within the environment and public health.  
  6. Provide technical assistance to PAHO/WHO and WHO on Geographic Information System and other information technologies for environmental, climate and public health data surveillance and monitoring;

WHO Outputs:
  Ower: 6.1 - Advice and support provided to Member States to build their capacity for health promotion across all relevant programmes, and to establish effective multisectoral and multidisciplinary collaborations for promoting health and preventing or reducing major risk factors.
  Ower: 8.2 - Technical support and guidance provided to Member States for the implementation of primary prevention interventions that reduce environmental hazards to health, enhance safety and promote public health, including in specific settings (e.g. workplaces, homes or urban settings) and among vulnerable population groups (e.g. children).
