- To support activities of the WHO Global Polio Eradication Initiative in the areas of surveillance, laboratory research, scientific programs on acute flaccid paralysis (AFP) caused by both polioviruses and non-polio enteroviruses (NPEVs) that cause neurological disease.
- At the request of WHO to support supplementary types of surveillance for polio- and non-polio enteroviruses (NPEVs) via supplementary types of surveillance (both human and non-human-based).
- To assist WHO in improving the quality of information on non-polio enteroviruses (NPEVs) surveillance in the Member States.
