Terms of Reference:
- Support WHO to obtain, fully characterize & preserve representative influenza viruses
from outbreaks in different parts of the world.
- At WHO’s request, to provide technical input, as and when appropriate, that would inform WHO’s work when developing recommendations on the viruses that should be included in influenza vaccines.
- Upon request by WHO, collect & distribute virologic and epidemiological information about the prevalence of influenza in different parts of the world and to develop and distribute reference viruses.
- At the request of WHO and in line with its norms and standards, provide training as and when appropriate to experts from WHO National Influenza Centres and other relevant laboratories in specialized techniques.
- Under WHO's leadership, to conduct collaborative research related to the properties of influenza
viruses and reference activities as prioritised by the WHO Research Agenda for influenza.
