- To support WHO’s work on better understanding of the circulating bacterial pathogens with the purpose of monitoring, tracking and combating bacterial pathogens, through research
- At the request of WHO, to support WHO’s capacity building efforts on phenotypic and molecular diagnostics of bacterial pathogens
- Provide, upon request by WHO, laboratory diagnostic support at regional or global levels for the identification and characterization of bacterial pathogens for surveillance and for emergency outbreak response.
