After a bad fall in 2013 my mother-in- law went for a gynaecological examination where she was diagnosed with advanced cervical cancer. She was lucky – many women are not diagnosed early enough. Whilst undergoing chemotherapy she suffered from severe side effects. Luckily I work with the Cancer Aid Society and was able to motivate her to adopt a diet rich in antioxidants and distract her from the disease. This eased her depression and improved her quality of life which is the goal of palliative care.
