Tanzania Drug Tracking Study, 2007
(2007; 149 pages)

Following recommendations made at the 7th Joint Annual Health Sector Review, 2006, the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare (MOH&SW) and Health Development Partners commissioned a drug tracking study. The objectives of the study were to review and track the disbursements of resources for drugs in the public health sector from source to the point of use, to determine the quantities, cost and source of drugs and medical supplies received and dispensed at the point of use compared to allocated funds, and to identify short and long-term practical solutions for improvements. Four international consultants, three national consultants and two national members of staff of the President’s Office Regional Administration and Local Government (PMO-RALG) and the Ministry of Health & Child Welfare/Pharmaceutical Supplies Unit respectively were assigned to undertake the study.
