AbstractAssists physicians and surgeons in the completion of certificates of cause of death in keeping with a recommended international standard. The book reproduces the international form of medical certificate for cause of death, followed by an explanation of the procedures to be adopted in its completion. The book also lists the major causes of death, followed by diagnostic details required for the purpose of statistical analysis. Further practical assistance is provided through 21 examples showing how to record the chain of events leading back to the underlying cause of death and any condition contributing to death but not directly part of the fatal sequence. The book also reproduces a special certificate recommended for use when completing the causes of death statement for perinatal deaths
