Mental disorders have a profound effect on individuals, their families and society. The Mental health atlas 2014 provides up-to-date information on the availability of mental health services and resources across the WHO Eastern Mediterranean Region. This is the first time that all the countries of the Region have participated and contributed to this exercise. The results provide an invaluable resource that will assist stakeholders to identify gaps in current provision and inform decisions around increasing resources to scale up services for mental health, and support the monitoring of progress towards global and regional targetsen_US
