SEA/RC69/7Rev.3: Proposed Programme Budget 2018–2019

Abstract

The development of the Programme Budget for the 2018–2019 biennium is the last Programme Budget within the Twelfth General Programme of Work, and will take into account the 2030 Agenda on Sustainable Development, and the outcome of the work on WHO Reform in response to emergencies. The attached Working Paper discusses the progress made in the process of developing the Programme Budget for the 2018–2019 biennium in the context of the WHO South-East Asia Region. Specific guidance from Member States will further inform the development of the Programme Budget for the 2018–2019 biennium which will be presented for review by the Executive Board at its 140th session in January 2017. In May 2017, the final draft of the Programme Budget 2018–2019 will be presented to the Seventieth World Health Assembly for approval. The attached Working Paper was reviewed by the Ninth Meeting of the Subcommittee on Policy and Programme Development and Management (‎SPPDM)‎ and the recommendations made for consideration to the Sixty-ninth Session of the Regional Committee for South-East Asia are: Action by Member States (‎1)‎ Continue active participation in discussions related to the Programme Budget 2018–2019 at the regional and global Governing Body meetings. Action by WHO (‎1)‎ Make available the “Regional Committee version” of the Programme Budget 2018–2019 document to Member States as soon as available. (‎2)‎ Facilitate discussions on the “Regional Committee version” of the Programme Budget 2018–2019 document prior to the Sixty-ninth Session of the Regional Committee for South-East Asia. This Working Paper and the HLP Meeting recommendations are submitted to the Sixty-ninth Session of the WHO Regional Committee for South-East Asia for its consideration and decision.
