AbstractThe MDG 5 calls for a reduction of the maternal mortality ratio by three quarters between 1990 and 2015 and MDG 4 for a reduction in the under-five mortality by two thirds during the same period. Skilled care at birth is an important input for improving maternal health and reducing child mortality. The report highlights the discussions and ommitments made by the Member States during the course of the technical discussions.
