Generic guidelines for the estimation of the annual risk of tuberculosis infection
AbstractSuccessful implementation of all interventions as envisaged in the new Stop TB strategy is expected to reduce the transmission of TB infection. The Generic Guidelines for the Estimation of the Annual Risk of Tuberculosis Infection is a tool to assist countries in designing and conducting tuberculin surveys. The publication gives a complete overview of all steps required for setting up a representative survey, starting from planning to the publishing at the final survey report. Periodic direct measurements of ARTI will help in obtaining more reliable estimates on the burden of TB and in measuring the impact of TB control interventions. This document is intended for use by national TB control programmes to more objectively report on progress towards the Millennium Development Goals.
