As the lead UN agency in international health development, WHO has been collaborating with its Member States in the South-East Asia Region to strengthen national capacity in several areas of priority interest. Accounting for nearly one fourth of the global population the Region also carries a heavy burden of communicable and noncommunicable diseases.
