Abstract
These guidelines aim at achieving two goals. First is to facilitate the work of government, health and other concerned sectors with the preparation of practical guides, or instructions, describing appropriate solutions to local sanitation problems, which are acceptable from the social, economic and technologies standpoints. The second is to extract and adapt from past and recent publications the technical information of immediate relevance to the social, economic and physical conditions of the countries of WHO Eastern Mediterranean Region, for the use of middle-level technicians
