The goal of this manual is to create a category of health personnel that is well oriented in occupational health practice in order to fill the gap in occupational health personnel and in coverage for working people. By following the primary health care approach the preventive objective of occupational health services in the workplace is emphasized. The manual outlines a curriculum for training of primary health care/community health workers. The training programme can be adjusted to suit the level of the trainees, for example for general practitioners or for workers in the workplace. It comprises a trainers guide and 12 modules covering a full range of relevant areas including work hazards, occupational and other work-related diseases, epidemiology, ergonomics, safety and accident prevention, first aid, health education, record keeping and occupational health for women and childrenCitation
