الملخص
The aim of community-based health care for older people is to help them manage their own health in order to stay as long and as well as possible within their own environment. Unfortunately, many health care providers lack the overall competence to provide older people with such multiprofessional care. The WHO Regional Office for Europe therefore convened a multiprofessional group of heath care providers and educators to prepare a document specifying the content of relevant educational programmes. The group comprised representatives of the fields of medicine, nursing, gerodontology, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, nutrition, psychology and social work, together with representation of older people from countries of the European Region. The document defines the concept of community-based health care for older people, specifies the different skills that older people should conserve with the help of health care providers, and the content and structure of several educational programmes of increasing complexity. It recommends action to be taken by health care institutions and educators, countries and WHO, as well as the health industry, health insurance providers and the mediaالإستشهاد
