Environmental health indicators : development of a methodology for the WHO European Region : interim report, 6 November 2000
KurzdarstellungThe methodology provides a guiding structure for regular-based reporting on the state of environment and health both within a country and at WHO-European Region level. It aims at establishment of a comprehensive monitoring system in order to assess the effect of interventions and the oversight of activities undertaken. The system enables decision-makers to focus on specific action areas covering health protection and intersectoral policies. The indicators system encompasses 11 environmental issues of public health significance and is based on the DPSEEA (Driving force 6 Pressure 6 State 6 Effect 6 Action) framework. WHO consultation has selected a set of "core" indicators for international assessments and analyses at subnational level. In addition, an extended set of EH indicators was proposed for national/local application. Operational forms for the core indicators are given together with the reports of the consultation and of a planning meeting for the pilot implementation of the system
