The coloured dots in this punchcard show WHO and UNICEF Estimates of National Immunization Coverage, (data as of July 15, 2019) for all universally recommended vaccines for which these estimates are available. They provide an insight into:

  • The level and trends in vaccination coverage, by comparing changes in coverage over a 15 year period. This trend is visualized both by the colour code and the size of the bubble. A green shade indicates that the GVAP target of 90% coverage was reached.
  • Drop-out between vaccines that are administered early in life, and the ones that are scheduled later. Vaccine combinations are ordered according to recommended schedules from birth doses (top of the chart) to doses after the first year of life (bottom of the chart). Ideally, the later doses are only marginally lower than earlier doses, showing the ability of the selected country to track and fully immunize all children.
  • Introduction status and uptake of new vaccines. The chart shows when new vaccines (such as Rotavirus vaccine or Pneumococcus vaccine) were introduced, and whether their coverage converges with established vaccines.
