Reported NOEL values from short-tern oral toxicity studies cited in the report were the highest doses tested: 125,000 IU/kg bw/d (mice, 30 day study), 0.5% methylene salicylate in the diet (rats, 3 months), 1000 ppm Zn bacitracin in the diet (rats), and 25,000 IU/kg bw/d (dogs).

Acceptable levels of residues: Milk: 0-1.2 IU/ml; Meat: 0-0.7 IU/g; Eggs: 0-4.8 IU/g (1 mg of bacitracin = 42 IU)
