Abstract
A thought-provoking discussion of indicators and techniques that can be used to evaluate the quality of primary health care, identify strengths and weaknesses, and plan for improvements. Practical examples are used to demonstrate both the scope of evaluation required and methods of assessing specific components. Factors that determine the quality of primary health care are examined in the second chapter, which concentrates on the chain of components comprising the health system infrastructure. Readers are also introduced to the use of critical events and tracer diseases as techniques for efficient assessment of health care quality. The remaining chapters consider what can be done to ensure a satisfactory level of quality in primary health care and discuss options for future actionCitation
