(2006, SEA-VBC-90)The political commitment for the elimination of kala-azar in the three endemic countries in the South-East Asia Region is strong. A memorandum of understanding was signed by the Ministers of Health of Bangladesh, India and Nepal to eliminate kala-azar through intercountry cooperation at an event organized during the World Health Assembly in May 2005.
