Резюме
In the WHO Eastern Mediterranean Region, promotion and protection of and support to breast-feeding is now seen as an essential task of national Maternal and Child Health (MCH) programmes, and primary health care workers - from senior medical personnel to traditional birth attendants - are being trained to support its practice. This recognition in countries of the Eastern Mediterranean Region of the significance of breast-feeding and weaning patterns for the health of mother and child, and their impact in assuring better community health in the longer term, has brought with it a need for up-to-date information. This second edition of the EMRO Technical Publications has been specially prepared to make pediatricians, health workers, nutritionists and physiologists as well as others aware of the significant changes that have occurred during the years in the breast-feeding pattern since issuing of the first edition, in order that they can continue and intensify the campaign for breast-feeding and weaning practices with vigor and successОписание
