Terms of Reference:
  1. Facilitate the development and implementation of culturally appropriate policies, strategies, programs and guidelines to increase knowledge of and participation in physical activity worldwide, and apply lessons learned from these global activities in both domestic and international venues. 
  2. Support the implementation of strategies from WHO, its Regional Offices, and other key partners for the prevention and control of noncommunicable diseases. 
  3. Strengthen global capacity for community-based, intersectoral physical activity promotion and noncommunicable disease prevention. 
  4. Train health, sport, education, recreation and professionals from other sectors in evidence-based public health approaches to promoting physical activity. 
  5. Promote the development of networks and partnerships involving intergovernmental bodies, nongovernmental organizations, professional associations, research institutions, private sector entities and civil society. 
  6. Establish and maintain surveillance and evaluation systems to monitor health status and behaviors, interventions, environments, and policies related to physical activity. 
  7. Support research on evidence-based intervention strategies to promote physical activity and prevent sedentary behavior.

WHO Outputs:
  Ower: 6.1 - Advice and support provided to Member States to build their capacity for health promotion across all relevant programmes, and to establish effective multisectoral and multidisciplinary collaborations for promoting health and preventing or reducing major risk factors.
  Ower: 6.5 - Evidence-based and ethical policies, strategies, recommendations, standards and guidelines developed and technical support provided to Member States with a high or increasing burden of disease or death associated with unhealthy diets and physical inactivity, enabling them to strengthen institutions in order to combat or prevent the public health problems concerned.
