Terms of Reference:
- 1. To assist WHO with investigations of foodborne disease epidemics, & evaluations of national programs for food borne disease surveillance. 2. To provide training for public health scientists on Member States on surveillance of food borne diseases. 3. To plan coordinating meetings of food safety specialists from the WHO Regional Offices at appropriate intervals. 4. To assist WHO with surveillance instruments for collection of epidemiologically useful data on food borne diseases & their analysis, interpretation, & transmission by local public health units to national, regional, & global levels of the public health infrastructure. 5. To coordinate activities for evaluation & standardization of molecular epidemiologic studies of food borne diseases. 6. To facilitate compilation & dissemination of information on food safety & prevention of infectious & non-infectious food borne diseases. 7. To provide to the WHO Food Safety Unit a brief annual report on findings of epidemiological importance. 8. To actively participate in the network of the WHO Collaborating Centres active in the area of food borne disease surveillance. 9. To participate with WHO in the development of methodologies to quantify the risk of natural & human-derived chemical & microbiological contaminants in foods. 10. To cooperate with WHO & its participating institutions by providing information, consultation, & assistance in the use of & implementation of quantitative risk assessment methodologies, including, where possible training & other services.
