Terms of Reference:
  1. 1. The CDC Biosafety Collaborating Centre is composed of several programs within the Office of Health & Safety. Each program provides technical expertise & experience in various areas of safety as outlined below. 2. Serve as a representative for the US Government's programs & activities in biosafety & occupational health policies. 3. Serve as a member of the WHO Biosafey Advisory Group, providing scientific & technical consultation, support & advise to the WHO Biosafety Program. 4. Assists with development of international policies associated with: Laboratory safety, Laboratory security (biosecurity), Transportation of infectious substances, Outbreak & containment advisories, Radiation & chemical safety, Facility emergency response programs. 5. Assists WHO with the investigation of: Laboratory infectious disease outbreaks & Occupational health exposures. 6. Assists WHO with institution or facility site visits as requested. 7. Provide consultation on laboratory containment issues, laboratory design, construction, operation, & maintenance programs. 8. Consultation on design, construction, operation, & maintenance of high containment laboratories (BSL-3, BSL-4, & BSL-3Agricultural laboratories). 9. Assists with the development of policies, practices & procedures in occupational health & medicine for: Clinical & research laboratories; Laboratory animal & livestock research; Employee deployment & outbreak programs. 10. Assist in the development & supports training programs & outreach initiatives associated with biosafety, biosecurity, radiation & chemical safety, environmental safety.
