Terms of Reference:
- 1. To organize, coordinate & perform collaborative research in quality assurance & the development of procedures, reference materials & methods for laboratory diagnosis in clinical chemistry.
- 2. To promote appropriate & effective quality assurance in health laboratories, & provide training to laboratory & health care staff.
- 3. To assist & advise on the evaluation of diagnostic materials & procedures (including those intended for decentralized or 'point of carte' application; "rapid diagnostic testing").
- 4. To advise & assist in the establishment of national quality assessment (EQA) programmes for clinical chemistry & the strengthening of quality assurance systems in countries within any Region.
- 5. To provide external quality assessment programmes for clinical chemistry & technical assistance in consultation with WHO.
- 6. To assist projects supporting improved data collection, & monitoring & evaluation of the effectiveness of EQAS for laboratory diagnosis in clinical chemistry.
