Terms of Reference:
  1. 1. To organize, coordinate & perform collaborative research in quality assurance & the development of procedures, reference materials & methods for laboratory diagnosis in clinical chemistry. 
  2. 2. To promote appropriate & effective quality assurance in health laboratories, & provide training to laboratory & health care staff. 
  3. 3. To assist & advise on the evaluation of diagnostic materials & procedures (including those intended for decentralized or 'point of carte' application; "rapid diagnostic testing"). 
  4. 4. To advise & assist in the establishment of national quality assessment (EQA) programmes for clinical chemistry & the strengthening of quality assurance systems in countries within any Region. 
  5. 5. To provide external quality assessment programmes for clinical chemistry & technical assistance in consultation with WHO. 
  6. 6. To assist projects supporting improved data collection, & monitoring & evaluation of the effectiveness of EQAS for laboratory diagnosis in clinical chemistry.
