- To conduct biomedical and operational and socio demographic research in reproductive health
- To conduct training sessions in: reproductive health and population issues, at the national and international levels within the context of the south to south collaboration
- To collaborate with WHO to promote research and research capacity strengthening in Reproductive health and population issues at the national and regional levels
- To promote the information dissemination of the conducted studies
- To act as a resource institution for the national RH/FP programme through national training to its personnel and partners organisation personnel.
- To provide technical assistance in the field of RH to other institutions from countries upon their request
