  1. To provide advisory service on food authentication and food contaminants testing, particularly natural toxins such as mycotoxins.  
  2. To provide technical assistance and food testing services for the investigation of food safety incidents and emergencies in the Western Pacific with particular focus on chemical contaminants and natural toxins.  
  3. To participate in GEMS/Food by providing monitoring data on levels of emerging chemical contaminants and natural toxins with particular focus on mycotoxins with the purpose of providing evidence-based data for food standards setting through regional and international mechanisms such as Codex
