Terms of Reference:
- Evidence-based knowledge managment: (1) Carry out and disseminate evidence-based research/in-depth analytical studies on mass gathering events, with focus on the Hajj; (2) establish a data base to study health events and monitor yearly progress with regard to Hajj; and (3) Assess and review performance of national, regional and international health systems and analyse public health measures for proven effectiveness in the context of mass gatherings. Collaborate and coordinate these activities, where apppropriate, with relevant international agencies and organizations.
- Research and publication: Develop and update mass gathering research, policies and measures; produce guidance materials; and share best practices/experiences with other international bodies/entities working on mass gathering health
- Establish a training programmes in mass gathering health and collaborate and coordinate training with relevant international agencies and organizations.
- 4. Advise and consult with the international community to enhance international cooperation and to strengthen and uphold national endeavours to develop mass gathering health plans, programmes and networks. Provide support, in collaboration with WHO's virtual interdisciplinary advisory group on mass gatherings (VIAG), for the development and maintenance of internationally-agreed, evidence-based guidance and standards for managing the public health impact of mass gatherings.
