Terms of Reference:
- 1. To provide laboratory diagnostic support in confirming and characterizing rickettsioses and other bacteria transmitted by arthropods isolates, including antibiotic resistance, at national level or, through WHO, at international level
- 2. to maintain a bank of strains
- 3. To assist WHO in outbreak situations due to rickettsioses and other bacteria transmitted by arthropods, at global level. It will include, when possible, the provision to Member states with free reference tests at the request of WHO
- 4. Through WHO, to provide consultation on surveillance, control programmes and strategy development for prevention of rickettsioses and other bacteria transmitted by arthropods at regional and global levels
- 5. To train national health workers at regional or global levels in laboratory diagnosis, surveillance and control of rickettsioses and other bacteria transmitted by arthropods
