Terms of Reference:
  1. Contribute to the assessment of health effects from low-dose radiation exposures and to research activities in the fields of radiation protection 
  2. Support WHO activities in the area of radiation emergency preparedness and response 
  3. Assist WHO in the assessment and communication of health effects from electric, magnetic and electromagnetic fields 
  4. Assist WHO in the assessment and communication of health effects from optical radiation, especially UV radiation  
  5. Contribute to WHO activities related to radon 
  6. Assist WHO in developing and implementing the Global Initiative on Radiation Safety in Health Care Settings to mobilize the health sector towards safer use of radiation in medicine 
  7. Assist WHO in developing and updating guidelines and standards 
  8. Contribute to the assessment and improvement of risk behaviour, risk perception and risk communication in radiation protection

WHO Outputs:
  Ower: 8.1 - Evidence-based assessments made, and norms and standards formulated and updated on major environmental hazards to health (e.g., poor air quality, chemical substances, electromagnetic fields, radon, poor-quality drinking-water and waste-water reuse)
  Ower: 8.2 - Technical support and guidance provided to Member States for the implementation of primary prevention interventions that reduce environmental hazards to health, enhance safety and promote public health, including in specific settings (e.g. workplaces, homes or urban settings) and among vulnerable population groups (e.g. children).
  Ower: 8.4 - Guidance, tools and initiatives created in order to support the health sector in influencing policies in other sectors to allow policies that improve health, the environment and safety to be identified and adopted.
