Terms of Reference:
- - To participate in the WHO Global Environment Monitoring System/Food Contamination Monitoring and Assessment Programme (GEMS/Food) through the provision of monitoring data on levels of priority contaminants in food and total diet, especially those identified by GEMS/Food and by sharing information on newly developed methods for detection and measurement of food contaminants or residues;
- - To cooperate with WHO and its participating institutions by providing information on the prevention, monitoring, control, exposure and assessment of health effects of contaminants in food;
- - To provide, as resources permit, training, advisory services and other cooperation with WHO’s Collaborating Centres and with other countries in the Western Pacific Region to strengthen their food contamination monitoring and assessment capabilities;
- - To assist in the surveillance of chemical contamination of food in the event of an emergency, including preparedness and early warning measures, as resources permit.
