Terms of Reference:
  1. To provide overall support to the WHO Western Pacific Food Safety Programme by hosting regional meetings, workshops and training courses, providing food testing services for countries without the necessary national capacity and developing appropriate standard operating procedures and training material. 
  2. Provide training and advisory services to food safety risk assessment centers in Asia including National GEMS/Food Centers (NGCs) in China with the purpose of strengthening capacities to provide evidence-based data for policy development including food standards setting through regional and international mechanisms such as Codex. This may include food contamination and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) monitoring and assessment capabilities as well as capabilities to trace food products and conduct food safety risk assessment.  
  3. To participate in GEMS/Food by providing monitoring data on levels of emerging chemical contaminants as well as persistent organic pollutants (POPs), pesticides, heavy metal and mycotoxins in Chinese total diet. Provide expertise and support in all aspects of total diet studies and food safety risk assessment in Asia.
