- To collaborate with WHO in research & training in the field of cardiovascular diseases, with special reference to epidemiology, prevention & control relevant to the Chinese population.
- To collaborate with WHO in collecting information on research activities being carried out in the fields of epidemiology, prevention & control of cardiovascular diseases. Thus, the institute would become the centre where activities in the field of cardiovascular diseases being carried out in the region allocated to the institute could be coordinated &, if condictions & organisztion structure permit it would be also involved in the planning of future activities in different parts of the country.
