Terms of Reference:
  1. • Work collaboratively with other WHO Collaborating Centers to accomplish the objectives set in the network’s strategic plan, specially in the area of the environment and public health; 
  2. • Provide technical assistance to WHO on implementation of integrated management systems for environmental and public health, specially within the Pan American region and Portuguese-speaking African Countries or elsewhere 
  3. • Participate in WHO initiative for developing of integrated guidelines related to the environment and public health 
  4. • Provide technical assistance to WHO on trans-disciplinary approaches to address environmental and public health problems 
  5. • Support WHO on regional and global improvement of the environment and of public health by disseminating information and making them available for everyone through Fiocruz’s website 
  6. • Provide technical assistance to WHO on laboratorial analysis or diagnosis and methodologies in specific areas within the environment and public health such as environmental epidemiology; risk assessment, risk evaluation, risk perception and risk communication; emergent and re-emergent diseases, vectors, occupational health; climate changes and health impact; health promotion, healthy housing, environmental virology and bio-safety 
  7. Provide technical Assistance to WHO on GIS applied to environment and health surveillance. 
  8. • Provide WHO with integrated environmental health approaches and tools for prevention and mitigation of adverse environmental impacts on human health • Provide WHO with the most up-to-date assessment of environment and health initiatives that have been developed in order to deal with environment and health challenges, as well as emerging issues that WHO will face in the near future

WHO organization wide expected result:
  6.1 - Advice and support provided to Member States to build their capacity for health promotion across all relevant programmes, and to establish effective multisectoral and multidisciplinary collaborations for promoting health and preventing or reducing major risk factors.
  8.2 - Technical support and guidance provided to Member States for the implementation of primary prevention interventions that reduce environmental hazards to health, enhance safety and promote public health, including in specific settings (e.g. workplaces, homes or urban settings) and among vulnerable population groups (e.g. children).
  8.3 - Technical assistance and support provided to Member States for strengthening national occupational and environmental health risk management systems, functions and services.
