  1. To contribute to WHOs work in the development of guidelines for rotavirus diagnosis, typing and characterisation 
  2. To provide specialized training on rotavirus detection and characterisation, provided that financial support is available 
  3. To store & distribute standard diagnostic reagents, reference strains of human rotaviruses & cell lines. 
  4. To study the molecular evolution of rotaviruses strains causing severe disease in young children. 
  5. To participate in workshops & conferences organized by WHO on subjects relevant to enteric virus research, rotaviruses surveillance, vaccine introduction and impact evaluation
