  1. To provide expert advice to WHO on development of tools for population salt reduction strategies.  
  2. To undertake and disseminate research knowledge in all aspects of salt reduction  
  3. To support and increase the capacity of the WHO, Member States and researchers in the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of salt reduction strategies. 
  4. To support WHO and Member States in the development of effective mechanisms for engaging and monitoring the food industry on food reformulation and responsible marketing.
