Inclusion Criteria:

- first, full-term pregnancy

- 38-41 weeks gestation

- English or Spanish speaking

- Bishop score of 7 or less

Exclusion Criteria:

- uncertain pregnancy dating

- transportation difficulties

- previous inability to tolerate acupuncture

- age less than 18
