Key inclusion & exclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1) age from 40-65 years,
2) willingness to participate in the screening programme
3) high normal blood pressure determined as a seating resting systolic blood pressure between 120 and 139 mmHg and/or a diastolic blood pressure of 80-89 mmHg, and/or a fasting glucose level between 6 and 6.9 mmol/l and
4) agree to participate over a 36-month period

Exclusion criteria: all previous diagnosis of heart diseases; previous diagnosis of hypertension and/or type 2 diabetes;
Unstable pulmonary disease;
History of alcoholism, drug abuse, or other psychiatric problems that are likely to limit compliance to the study;
Orthopedic or rheumatologic disease (i.e. severe rheumatoid arthritis);
Already enrolled in clinical research trial, and having kidney disease.
