Key inclusion & exclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Drug misusers who are in contact with the CDT and registered with a Stockport general practitioner. Participants must be opiate users of have used opiates more than once in the last 12 months.

Primary Outcome(s)
The comparison between two groups (practices offered the services of a primary care liaison worker and those not) of the proportion of drug users in contact with the Community Drug Team who are in shared care arrangements with primary care teams 12 and 18 months post-randomisation. Hospital admissions and A&E attendances.
