Key inclusion & exclusion criteria
|
Inclusion criteria: Sixty athletes that run during their training; the run training occurs at least three times a week; presence of the medial tibial stress syndrome induced by sports practice for at least six weeks and pain on palpation in the distal posteromedial border of the tibia.
Exclusion criteria: Suspicion of tibial stress fracture or compartment syndrome; history of surgery in lower limbs or tibia fracture; paresthesia; other conditions that cause pain in the leg or presence concurrent pain; such as pain in the knee or ankle sprains.

Intervention(s)
|
Experimental group: 30 participants will receive the application of elastic bandage on the anterior leg and this will be maintained during a run training session. Control group: 30 participants will receive a placebo application of elastic bandage on the leg without therapeutic indication, and this will be maintained during a run training session. The randomization will be done through sealed opaque envelopes by a person who does not have any contact with the participants and assessors. And the interventions will be implemented by a different researcher of the evaluator.

Primary Outcome(s)
|
Pain reduction in the leg after a race training session assessed by visual analog scale, pressure algometer, McGill questionnaire and numerical pain scale; Maintenance of ankle dorsal and plantar range of motion after a race training session measured in weight bearing positions. Maintenance of plant arc after a race training session measured by the navicular drop test.
