Experimental group: 20 elderly women submitted to a hyperproteic diet (1.4 to 1.6 g / kg / day) associated with functional exercise, which included interval, multifunctional, integrated and multi-articular exercises, specific to their daily needs
Experimental group: 20 elderly women submitted to a hyperproteic diet (1.4-1.6 g / kg / day) associated with resistance exercise, which were performed in predominantly analytical machines with isolated neuromuscular work
Control group or "untreated": 20 elderly women submitted to a hyperproteic diet (1.4-1.6 g / kg / day) not associated with physical exercise. The participants in the control group performed stretches with submaximal joint amplitude levels and relaxation practices, both for maintenance of the sample
In total, 36 exercise sessions were performed for each group, lasting 50 minutes each session and weekly frequency of three nonconsecutive days.
Primary Outcome(s)
Average gain of 0.7 kg of lean body mass measured in the electrical bioimpedance after 12 weeks of intervention with a high-protein (1.5 grams per kilogram of weight) associated with functional and resistance training
Secondary Outcome(s)
Decreased chronic subclinical inflammation identified by reduction of C-reactive protein and TNF-a. The evaluations will be carried out in the week prior to the start of the intervention and in the week following the completion of the 12 weeks of intervention.
