Key inclusion & exclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Seniors aged 60 and over; both sexes; proper locomotion; report pain; registered in health institutions.
Exclusion criteria: Cognitive deficit; disabling neurological deficits; refuse to respond to the assessment tools; non-attendance at scheduled appointments.

Intervention(s)
Seventy-one subjects participated in the study and were followed for 4 weeks with once a week application of auriculotherapy. The auriculotherapy technique was used with the following steps: a) external ear asepsis with 70% alcohol; b) ear inspection for abnormal signs; c) palpation with a probe for auriculotherapy of the corresponding areas of the auricular map with the pain reporting sites assessed by the nordic musculoskeletal questionnaire; (d) fixing of mustard seeds with beige adhesive bandages; e) stimulation of the applied points and guidelines for home stimuli during the week.

Primary Outcome(s)
Decreased pain status assessed by visual analogue pain scale in pre and post intervention measurements.
Secondary Outcome(s)
Performance improvement of functional tests assessed through the 5x sit-up test and Time Up and Go test (TUG) in pre- and post-intervention measurements.
