Key inclusion & exclusion criteria

Inclusion Criteria:

- patients who were hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit

- severe respiratory failure requiring mechanical ventilation

Exclusion Criteria:

- spontaneous breathing,

- severe vascular disease,

- increased intra-abdominal pressure,

- cardiac pacemaker

- cardioverter defibrillator
