Inclusion Criteria:

- Ureteric calculus with proximal hydronephrosis confirmed on CT KUB

- White cell count >12,000mm3 and/or temperature >38C

Exclusion Criteria:

- Uncorrected coagulopathy

- Urethral or ureteric stricture disease

- Urinary diversion

- Pregnancy
