Inclusion Criteria:

- Type 2 diabetes for at least one year

- periodontitis

- HbA1c > 7%

Exclusion Criteria:

- Periodontal treatment in the last 6 months

- antibiotics in the last 3 months

- tobacco smoking

- pregnancy
