Key inclusion & exclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Age 59 and over
No use of central nervous system medication such as sedative drugs

Exclusion criteria: Ankle and knee osteoarthritis
Dizziness and visual unsolved disorders
Back pain in the past 6 months
Any serious injury in the past 3 months
Joint surgery of ankle, knee, hips, and pelvis
Any noticeable dysfunction of lower limbs (Genu varum, Genu valgum, Genu recurvatum, ankle pronation)
History of injury to the head which had led to medical treatment or medication to save the balance
Stroke leading to an imbalance
Braces
People who exercise


Age minimum: 59 years
Age maximum: no limit
Gender: Both
Health Condition(s) or Problem(s) studied
Older adults.
Age-related physical debility
Intervention(s)
Intervention 1: Intervention group: Core exercises. The program consisted of frontal, dorsal, rotational, and lateral core exercises; including 8 exercises (2 static in 4 sets with 20 second contraction time and 6 dynamic exercises in four sets with 20 repetitions). The exercises were performed in one session for 20 minutes. The elderly specific exercises were chosen and designed according to guidelines of prescribing exercise for elders. Intervention 2: Control group: No extra work. Subjects did not any exercise and only did daily activities.
Primary Outcome(s)
Y-balance test. Timepoint: At baseline and after the intervention and 10 days after the intervention. Method of measurement: Y-balance test kit.
Static balance. Timepoint: At baseline and after the intervention and 10 days after the intervention. Method of measurement: Single-leg balance test with close eyes.
Functional reach test. Timepoint: At baseline and after the intervention and 10 days after the intervention. Method of measurement: A tape measure.
