Key inclusion & exclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1) diagnosed with AD according to the Williams criteria [11] and had a SCORing Atopic Dermatitis (SCORAD) score =50; 2) age >18 years;
3) except oral antihistamine, patients did not receive any other systematic treatments for AD 1 month before the enrolment;
4) signed the informed consent form.

Exclusion criteria: 1) had secondary viral, bacterial, and/or fungal infections in the skin lesions;
2) had malignancy, autoimmune diseases, severe systematic infectious diseases, mental diseases, and/or serious diseases in liver, kidney, and/or vascular system;
3) were allergic to halometasone cream or Vaseline ointment;
4) with poor compliance to the study protocol.
